USF ranked 9th among universities and 269th among the 300 top patenting organizations in 2010, according to the count compiled by the IPO. Last year, USF researchers and students were granted 83 patents. Thirteen American universities and university systems and one university in China comprised the collection of leading higher education innovators.

This past week, USF’s entrepreneurship program had a surprise visit from the Bay Area’s own, Kevin Harrington. Kevin is known for being one of the creators of the ‘Infomercial’ and has helped launch the careers of people such as the late Billy Mays. He is also most recently known as one of the investors on ABC’s new TV show “Shark Tank.” Kevin spoke to the New Venture Formation class about how he got started in TV and the struggles he faced along the way.
